About our Isuzu MU-X suspension upgrades

The MU-X is built on the D-MAX, with one big difference for suspension: it runs coil springs at the rear instead of the D-MAX's leaf springs. So front struts and upper control arms often match the Isuzu D-MAX of the same generation, while rear coils and shocks are MU-X-specific. We stock over 40 MU-X parts from CalOffroad Nitro Pro, CalOffroad Platinum, Bilstein and Polyair.

Most MU-X owners are families who tour and tow. A loaded cargo area, roof rack and van on the towbar is what makes the rear sit low and the ride feel floaty, and that's what our range is built to fix.

A practical tip: an MU-X that sags at the rear when towing usually needs heavier-rated rear coils, not just stiffer shocks. Lifts over 50mm usually need engineering approval, so check the rules in your state. Choose your MU-X below, or call us on 1300 225 494 for fitment help.

Suspension upgrades for the Isuzu MU-X

  • MU-X lift kits: CalOffroad Nitro Pro Tour Packs in 45mm and 2-inch heights, and CalOffroad Bilstein 2-inch kits.
  • Shocks and struts: our biggest MU-X range, with front struts, coilovers and rear shocks for touring and towing.
  • Coil springs: raised and heavy-duty rear coils rated for a loaded wagon or a van on the towbar.
  • Upper control arms: restore caster and camber after a front lift.
  • Airbags: Polyair airbags add rear support when you hitch up the van.
  • Snorkels: Safari snorkels raise the air intake for dust and water crossings.

Isuzu MU-X suspension FAQs

What's the best MU-X suspension upgrade for towing?

Start with rear coil springs rated for your towball and cargo load, then match the shocks to them. Add airbags if you only tow now and then. Call us with your van weight and we'll suggest a setup.

Do D-MAX suspension parts fit the MU-X?

Some front parts do: struts and upper control arms are often shared within the same generation. Rear springs and shocks don't, because the MU-X uses coils and the D-MAX uses leaf springs. Every listing shows its fitment.

What about Isuzu MU-X suspension returns?

All MU-X suspension return requests require before and after height measurements from the centre of the wheel to the guard at each corner. Final heights are estimates and change with the load you carry, so check your tyre pressures and the weight in the cargo area before contacting us.

Do you offer installation services for MU-X parts?

While CalOffroad doesn't offer direct installation services, we can provide you with comprehensive instructions and support to guide you through the installation process. If you're not comfortable doing the installation yourself, we recommend consulting a qualified mechanic experienced with off-road vehicle modifications.
