About our Volkswagen Amarok suspension upgrades

Our Volkswagen Amarok suspension upgrades cover the Gen 1 (2011 to 2022) and Gen 2 (2023 on). Choose your generation first, because the two share almost no suspension parts. The Gen 2 is built on the same platform as the Ford Ranger PY, so several parts are made for both. The Gen 1 uses its own components.

Both generations run independent front suspension with leaf springs at the rear. A front lift changes your alignment, and a rear lift changes your tail shaft angle, so plan the supporting parts with the kit. Lifts over 50mm usually need engineering approval, so check the rules in your state.

Amarok Gen 2 (2023 on) suspension

Parts listed for the Gen 2 Amarok include:

  • CalOffroad Platinum Series B60 lift kit for 0 to 2 inches of lift.
  • Bilstein height-adjustable front struts, rear shocks and front coil springs rated from light to extra heavy loads.
  • CalOffroad Platinum raised front coil springs and a 2 inch medium duty rear leaf spring.
  • Greasable shackles, square-top U-bolts and strut top mounts.
  • A tail shaft spacer kit and a Bremtec big brake upgrade kit.

Because the Gen 2 shares its platform with the Ranger PY, some parts are titled for the Ranger. Only buy a part if its listing names the Amarok Gen 2. Owners with a Ranger PY can browse Ford Ranger PX4 (PY) suspension.

Amarok Gen 1 (2011 – 2022) suspension

Parts listed for the Gen 1 Amarok include:

  • CalOffroad Platinum Series B60 Bilstein kit, Bilstein 2 inch front struts, front shocks and rear shocks.
  • 2 inch lift rear leaf springs in medium duty (100 to 300kg) and heavy duty (300 to 500kg), plus rear leaf spring bush kits.
  • A CalOffroad upper control arm kit, ball joint boot kit and 1 inch diff drop kit.
  • Polyair airbags with an airbag cradle kit.
  • Safari snorkels and Bremtec front and rear brake upgrades for the V6 (2017 on).

Supporting parts for a lifted Amarok

  • Tail shaft spacer: raising the rear changes the tail shaft angle. If you feel a vibration after a lift, a tail shaft spacer kit is a common fix and is listed for the Gen 2.
  • Upper control arms and diff drop: on the Gen 1, these keep camber and CV angles in check once the front is lifted.
  • Airbags: if you tow or carry a heavy tray load, airbags help keep the rear level without stiffening the empty ride.

Volkswagen Amarok suspension FAQs

Do Ford Ranger PY parts fit the Gen 2 Amarok?

Many do, because the Gen 2 Amarok shares its platform with the Ranger PY, but not all. Only buy a part if its fitment names the Volkswagen Amarok Gen 2. If a listing only mentions the Ranger, call us on 1300 225 494 before you order.

Will Gen 1 Amarok suspension fit the Gen 2?

No. The Gen 1 (2011 to 2022) and Gen 2 (2023 on) use different struts, springs and mounting points. Shop Gen 1 Amarok suspension or Gen 2 Amarok suspension to see only the parts that fit.

Which Gen 1 leaf spring rating should I choose?

Choose by the weight you carry all the time, such as a canopy, drawers, a fridge and water. The medium duty spring suits 100 to 300kg and the heavy duty spring suits 300 to 500kg. If your load changes often, consider a medium duty spring with airbags.

Do you install Amarok suspension?

CalOffroad doesn't offer installation, but we provide installation instructions and support. If you'd rather not fit the parts yourself, use a qualified mechanic, and book a wheel alignment afterwards.
